Poehler performed alongside Fey's spot-on impression of the nominee. When the real Sarah Palin appeared on the show, a nine-months-pregnant Poehler performed a gangster rap about the Alaska governor while Palin swayed to the beat beside her.
Motherhood
Poehler gave birth to son Archie on October 25, 2008 - fittingly, on a Saturday night. "Amy Poehler is not here tonight because she's having a baby," her Weekend Update co-anchor Seth Myers announced on air. Poehler left SNL in December 2008 but returned immediately to television on a new show called Parks and Recreation, playing an over-eager bureaucrat in a fictional Midwestern town. She also launched a Web series called Smart Girls at the Party, featuring interviews with "girls who are changing the world by being themselves."
Poehler and Arnett welcomed their second son, Abel, in 2010. She has parenthood down to a few simple tips: "Always remember your kid's name. Always remember where you put your kid. Don't let your kid drive until their feet can reach the pedals. Use the right size diapers & for yourself. And, when in doubt, make funny faces."
Recent Challenges and Successes
Poehler has become one of television's top comediennes with the success of her sitcom Parks and Recreation. For her work on the show, she has received several Emmy nominations as an actress, writer and producer. Poehler is also set to appear on the big screen with Parks and Recreation co-star Adam Scott in the upcoming comedy A.C.O.D..
Poehler, however, has struggled in her personal life. In September 2012, she and Arnett announced plans to divorce after nine years together.
