Alfred North Whitehead was born February 15, 1861, in Ramsgate, England. His Treatise on Universal Algebra (1898) extended Boolean symbolic logic. He collaborated with Bertrand Russell on the epochal Principia Mathematical (1910–1913), which attempted to establish the thesis of logicism.
