Agnieszka Radwanska was born on March 6, 1989 in Krakow, Poland. In 2006, she won the junior French Open title, and went on to compete at Wimbledon the same year, losing in the fourth round to Belgian player Kim Clijsters. Early Life

Born on March 6, 1989 in Krakow, Poland, Agnieszka Radwanska began playing tennis at the age of 4. With Pete Sampras and Martina Hingis as her noted inspirations, she became a professional tennis player in her early teens. She first turned heads in 2005, with an impressive performance in the Wimbledon junior singles. Radwanska won the title, defeating opponent Tamira Paszek, and went on to win the junior French Open title the following year.

Tennis Career

In 2006, Radwanska competed again at Wimbledon, but lost in the fourth round to Belgian player Kim Clijsters. The following year, she defeated Martina Hingis in a three-set third-round match at the 2007 Sony Ericsson Open, but lost in the fourth round to Tathiana Garbin. Also in 2007, Radwanska became the first Polish player in history to win a WTA tour singles title—an accolade that she won at the Nordea Nordic Light Open in Sweden. After competing at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Radwanska won two more WTA singles title at the Pattaya Women's Open in Thailand and the Istanbul Cup—both in 2008. By 2012, she had become a 10-time WTA singles titleist.
 
After some tough losses in 2010, Radwanska made it to the fourth round of the 2011 French Open, but lost to longtime competitor Maria Sharapova. She earned her first victory since 2008 at the 2011 Mercury Insurance Open, defeating rival Vera Zvonareva in straight sets. At the 2012 Sony Ericsson Open, Radwanska finally beat Maria Sharapova in the championship match. In 2012, she took the world No. 3 ranking from Czech rival Petra Kvitova.
 
Radwanska made it to the 2012 Wimbledon finals, but was beaten in three sets by American tennis star Serena Williams—Williams's fifth Wimbledon singles title.
