For a man who never thought twice about being an author, Roald Dahl has become a fixture in a global imagination. His stories have become mainstays in the minds of children and adults. We've read them on the printed page and seen them on the silver screen with adaptations of: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Witches, The BFG, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, James and the Giant Peach, and Matilda just to name a few. And now after permeating the world of cinema, Dahls' stories have taken to the stage with Matilda the Musical currently on Broadway and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory set to premiere in London on June 25th.

Get an inside look at the many novels by author Roald Dahl:

Matilda brings to life Dahls' classic tale in a way audiences have yet to experience. But such adaptations are always faced with great challenges when dealing with established works like this one. "There is a sense of responsibility you feel when you embark on changing a genre for such a well-known story," said Tim Minchin, who wrote the music and lyrics for the show.

Matilda the Musical aims to be true to the world, while at the same time being innovating for the audience. In doing this, the show's also created a monthly book club via Google + with Lucy Dahl to discuss her father's work.
