Just as we're getting ready for next week’s release of The Giver, the movie version of Lois Lowry’s YA best-seller, there’s news of another sci-fi kids classic making it to the big screen.
According to Variety, Jennifer Lee, the Oscar-winning writer and co-director of the animated smash Frozen, has plans to make A Wrinkle in Time, Madeleine L’Engle’s Newbery Award-winning book, into a Disney movie.
One of Lee’s favorite childhood reads, the book follows Meg, her quirky little brother and her friend on a mission through space and time to rescue her scientist father from forces of evil. An action-packed plot line featuring a complex, kick-ass girl heroine? Sounds like a perfect sophomore project for the writer who brought us “Frozen’s” Elsa and Anna.
What children's books do you think should be made into movies?
