No year is complete without a full range of celebrity meltdowns. Whether they're ranting or raving, running into trouble with the law, or just generally freaking out, these stars manage to keep it interesting. Here's a look at the top five celebrity meltdowns of 2011.

Charlie Sheen This year brought us one of the biggest celebrity meltdowns in a decade and, perhaps, in history—the complete unraveling of Charlie Sheen. As the star of Two and a Half Men, Sheen was the highest-paid actor on television. In January, however, after entering a rehab program, he began waging a verbal war against Two and Half Men's creator, Chuck Lorre. In March, Sheen was fired from the show, but that didn't stop him from embarking on a series of bizarre, rambling, and endlessly quotable interviews. Perhaps his best quote: "I am on a drug. It's called Charlie Sheen. It's not available. If you try it once, you will die. Your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body."

Demi Lovato Teen Disney star Demi Lovato started 2011 with an adult-sized meltdown. After punching a back-up dancer last fall, Lovato, 18 at the time, entered rehab for physical and emotional issues. She completed treatment in January of this year, revealing to the press that she had sought treatment for bulimia and self-injury. In April, Lovato announced she wouldn't be returning to her hit show Sonny with a Chance.

Christina Aguilera Known for her impressive vocals, Christina Aguilera started 2011 off on a bad note. On February 6, while performing for Super Bowl XLV, Aguilera forgot an entire line of the "The Star Spangled Banner." She continued her winning streak later that month, when she fell while walking off the stage after her Grammy performance. Her visible weight gain didn't help matters, and neither did her arrest in March for public intoxication.

Tracy Morgan Comedian Tracy Morgan made some major lapses in judgement in 2011. In a scene reminiscent of his show 30 Rock, Morgan made offensive comments about gay people at a stand-up performance in June. His rant, in which he told the audience that if his son were gay he would "pull out a knife and stab him," caused a stir with his fans. GLAAD president Jarrett Barrios publicly demanded the actor rescind his comments, and Morgan later apologized, saying his jokes were "not funny in any context." But the actor/comedian stuck his foot in his mouth again at a stand-up show later that month. His new target: the disabled.

Paula Abdul No stranger to bizarre behavior, Paula Abdul had yet another meltdown this year. On the afternoon of Valentine's Day, the former American Idol judge placed a frantic call to 911 from her boyfriend's car. Sobbing and hysterical, Abdul said "I wanna go, and he won't let me!" and repeatedly screamed "Drop me off!" Abdul didn't file a police report, and a spokesperson later said the incident was an "argument with loved ones" that was worked out.
