Quote of the Week: Bob Ross

Bob Ross was born on this day in 1942. For years, his gentle humor attracted painting enthusiasts to tune into his PBS show, 'The Joy of Painting.' We salute Bob Ross, for not only completing an entire painting in 30 minutes, but also for his Zen-like and encouraging nature for everyone to create art.

Bob Ross Quote - REVISED

"Maybe in our world there lives a happy little tree over there." -- Bob Ross

Did you know?

Bob Ross served America for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force earning a rank of Master Sergeant by the time he left. When he described his time with the military, it’s hard to believe he was talking about the same serene painter we tuned in to watch. "I was the guy who makes you scrub the latrine, the guy who makes you make your bed, the guy who screams at you for being late to work," he recalled. "The job requires you to be a mean, tough person. And I was fed up with it. I promised myself that if I ever got away from it, it wasn't going to be that way anymore."

Ross also was a huge animal lover and spent time rehabilitating neighborhood critters that needed help. One of his favorites that made an odd cameo on his show was a squirrel named Peapod.
