Her impressive bouffant and whiskey-soaked voice earned Amy Winehouse comparisons to jazz great Etta James, and helped bring Motown back into the popular lexicon. The only rival to her talent was her tumultuous personal life, which increasingly overshadowed her award-winning career. After months of teetering on the edge of sobriety, Winehouse dissolved in a dramatic on-stage meltdown in June, causing her to cancel the rest of her 2011 tour. Family, friends and fans wished Winehouse a speedy recovery, but the troubled singer's life came to an untimely end on Saturday after paramedics pronounced the 27-year-old dead in her London apartment. Coroners are performing an autopsy today to uncover the cause of death.
