Last week we saw Annie Edson Taylor (a.k.a. ‘Queen of the Mist’) climb into a wooden barrel and dive over Niagara falls at the age of 63. This week marks the anniversary when John Glenn climbed into a more modern barrel, better known as the shuttle Discovery, and returned to space at the age of 77—nearly forty years since his 1962 solo voyage into the unknown. Glenn became the oldest human to ever travel into space.
Perhaps he owes a tip of the helmet to Ms. Taylor?
