The Auth of Goth is at it again. This month, marks the release of Anne Rice’s The Wolves of Midwinter, her 33rd book and the second installment in her series, The Wolf Gift Chronicles. This one picks up where last year’s The Wolf Gift left off, with Reuben Golding as a journalist turned werewolf earning his varsity letter on Team Jacob by killing criminals and grappling with human sacrifice—all the while planning a giant Christmas celebration (no, really!).
Will the wolf man have the literary longevity of Anne Rice’s most famous anti-hero Lestat? It’ll be a hard act to follow. After all, Rice’s most famous series, The Vampire Chronicles, spanned 10 books and spawned two movies, a Broadway musical, and launched the New Orleans-born author into fame. For now, she says she’s only planning one more installment in The Wolf Gift Chronicles, but fans of Rice know that the author can be full of surprises.
