Whitney Houston Dies at 48
According to officials, pop legend Whitney Houston was found dead Saturday at a Beverly Hills, California, hotel. She was 48 years old.
Houston's body was reportedly discovered in her room by a bodyguard. The entertainer was pronounced dead at 6:55 p.m. EST, at the Beverly Hilton, after a failed resuscitation attempt. The cause of her death is still being investigated.
Houston died on the night before the 54th annual Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. She was in town early to attend the annual concert and dinner of her mentor, Clive Davis, where she was also rumored to possibly perform. She had also been at rehearsals for the Grammy awards show Thursday, coaching singers Brandy and Monica.
Houston was set to appear in the film Sparkle, a remake of the 1976 movie based on the story of The Supremes.
The singer is survived by Bobbi Kristina, her 18-year-old daughter with ex-husband Bobby Brown.
