Davy Jones, the former lead singer of the Monkees, died after a heart attack today in Florida, according to Reuters. He had been on a solo tour when he was admitted to a hospital after experiencing chest pains.

Jones and his bandmates Mickey Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork starred on a TV comedy show that was inspired by the popularity of the Beatles. The '60s show proved to be a ratings success that led to hit singles, including "Daydream Believer" and "Last Train to Clarksville."

Jones is survived by his wife, Jessica, and four daughters.

Fans probably remember wishing they were Marcia Brady when Davy Jones made a cameo on The Brady Bunch and asked her out to the prom. Relive the moment here.
