Katy Perry's no one-hit wonder, as she proved this week by breaking a billboard record. Perry, 26, is the first female artist to have five number one hits off the same album. Her album Teenage Dream has sold 1.7 million copies so far.
Though she hasn't been in the business for nearly as long, Perry's album sales have overtaken veteran pop stars like Britney Spears, Madonna, and even Lady Gaga. Michael Jackson set the original record in 1987 with his album Bad, and is still the only other artist to accomplish the feat.
Katy Perry's gotten notice not only for her catchy pop tunes, but for her playful, zany outfits. LED lights, spangled bras, and retro wigs are some of the more tame pieces she's been seen wearing. Comedian Russell Brand doesn't seem to mind being married to a pop star who's got sex appeal and the achievements to back it up. The couple married in India in October 2010.
