The producers at BIO.com review hundreds of photos of famous figures each week, from award-winning actors and popular singers, to headliners and scandal makers. While we're digging through these archives, we often come across amazing photos that we're just dying to share. So, without further ado, here's the one image that stands out to us this week:

Forty-two years ago this week, rock and roll legend Jimi Hendrix left our world, probably asking us not to be late when we meet him in the next one. Seen above at just three years old with his father, James "Al" Hendrix, it's almost hard to believe that this toddler, known then as James Marshall Hendrix, would one day grow up to become one of rock and roll's most iconic musicians. But Hendrix's trademark wild hair can be glimpsed in the tiny curls of this “voodoo child.”

Hendrix’s signature songs – “Voodoo Child (Slight Return) – which was originally inspired by "Voodoo Chile," a lengthy blues-infused jam session, was recorded in 1968. Fellow rock guitarist Joe Satriani has said about the song, "It's just the greatest piece of electric guitar work ever recorded. In fact, the whole song could be considered the holy grail of guitar expression and technique. It is a beacon of humanity."
