The producers at BIO.com review hundreds of photos of famous figures each week, from award-winning actors and popular singers, to headliners and scandal makers. While we're digging through these archives, we often come across amazing photos that we're just dying to share. So, without further ado, here's the one image that stands out to us this week:

Seen here with Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean plays oil tycoon Jett Rink in his last film, Giant (1956). The film follows these characters from youth until old age where, in a sad twist of fate, we glimpse the only visual of an older James Dean. (Getty Images)

Fifty-seven years ago this week, James Dean died in a car crash in Cholame, California, at the age of 24. Yet even today, the revered actor casts a long shadow. From his troubled past to his extraordinarily raw performances as an actor, Dean’s presence both on and off screen still begs the question: what if? What if the world of film had more than just the three outstanding performances he gave us?

Pictured above, we see Dean in his final role in Giant (1956), released just a year after his death, and one in which he was posthumously nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor.
