Reels containing the first half of Alfred Hitchcock’s first movie have been found in New Zealand. Hitchcock worked on the silent melodrama The White Shadow when he was just 24 years old. The film portrays twin sisters, one good and one soulless. The White Shadow will be distributed internationally, with Hitchcock listed as assistant director, art director, editor and writer. Only the first three of six reels have been found, but archivists hope the second half of the film will be recovered—even in his death, Hitchcock is keeping us at the edge of our seats.
