The producers at BIO.com review hundreds of photos of famous figures each week, from award-winning actors and popular singers, to headliners and scandal makers. While we're digging through these archives, we often come across amazing photos that we're just dying to share. So, without further ado, here's the one image that stands out to us this week:

A depiction of George Washington on his way to his inauguration in April of 1789.

On February 4th, 1789, George Washington was elected the first President of the United States. And he did so with unanimous approval from the electoral college, the first and only president to ever receive all electoral college votes, which numbered 132 at the time.

Washington wanted to make sure that America's first presidency did not resemble the rule of the former British monarchs. Thus, he requested that he be referred to as "Mr. President" and even initially declined the $25,000 salary offered by Congress since he already had a great deal of money. However, he winded up accepting the pay because Congress did not want to set the precedent that only wealthy individuals could serve as President.

Can you imagine the kind of premium wood he could've purchased for his choppers on that discretionary income?
