Whether acquiring power through one's birthright or through a democratic process, running a nation is no easy task. Louis XII, King of France in 1498, ran the country just shy of two decades. Some of his actions were controversial, such as the war that he instigated against Italy in 1494 as a commander, but he still remained a beloved ruler by his followers by protecting them from oppression and civil war. Hundreds of years later, the same holds true for Russian president Vladimir Putin, who was elected to the presidency three times by the public, despite some of his controversial dealings, such as his country's close relations to the civll war-torn country of Syria. Could it be that the pressures of running a country have given these leaders the same stressed out expression?
