Actress. Born November 22, 1984 in New York City. The daughter of a Danish architect and the granddaughter of a screenwriter and director, Johansson graduated from Manhattan's Professional Children's School in 2002. Her first noted performance was in 1998's The Horse Whisperer.
In 2003, Johansson earned critical praise for her role opposite Bill Murray in 2003's Lost in Translation and her starring turn in Girl with a Pearl Earring with Colin Firth. After receiving Golden Globe nominations for both performances, she became one of Hollywood's most sought after lead actresses.
Johansson has continued to work on a variety of projects, including A Love Song for Bobby Long (earning her third Golden Globe nod), Woody Allen’s Scoop and Match Point (for which she received her fourth), and Brian De Palma's The Black Dahlia. Her recent films include The Nanny Diaries and a film adaptation of the best-selling historical novel The Other Boleyn Girl with Natalie Portman. She also had a leading role in Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008), co-starring with Rebecca Hall as Americans on vacation who become involved with an artist (Javier Bardem) and his ex-wife (Penelope Cruz).
In May 2008, Scarlett Johansson released her first album Anywhere I Lay My Head, singing cover versions of Tom Waits' songs.
Johansson has been reportedly coupled with several actors, including Benicio Del Toro, Jared Leto and Josh Hartnett.
In the spring of 2008, Scarlett Johansson got engaged to her boyfriend and fellow actor Ryan Reynolds. The couple quietly married in late September at a wilderness retreat near Vancouver, Canada. The ceremony was attended by a small group of family and friends.
