Writer. Born on February 24, 1964 in Belfast, Ireland. Robert McLiam Wilson published his first novel, Ripley Bogle, at the age of 26 and arguably it remains his most acclaimed. It tells the story of a decrepit young vagrant living in London. The novel won the Rooney Prize, the Hughes Prize, and the Irish Book Award.
Wilson's second novel, Eureka Street (1996), is a tale about two friends, one Catholic and one Protestant, living in Belfast during the IRA ceasefires of 1994. The book was adapted for television by the BBC and is a winner of the Belfast Arts Award for Literature. Other works include the 1992 novel Manfred's Pain and the 1992 non-fiction effort The Dispossessed.
