Egyptian heir, film producer. Born Imad El-Din Mohamed Abdel Moneim Fayed on April 15, 1955 in Alexandria, Egypt. Dodi Fayed was the son of Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al Fayed and Samira Khashoggi, sister of weapons dealer Adnan Khashoggi. Fayed was a graduate of Sandhurst Military Academy and attended Collège Saint Marc in Egypt and the Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland.
Fayed's father owns London's famous Harrods department store, as well as Fulham Football Club and the Ritz-Carleton Hotel in Paris. Fayed was best known for his flamboyant lifestyle, but made his career in film, working as a producer for 1980's Breaking Glass, 1981's Chariots of Fire, and 1986's F/X, along with its sequel and television series. He also served as executive producer for 1991's fantasy film Hook, with Robin Williams and 1995's film adaptation of The Scarlet Letter. He founded his own production company, Allied Stars Inc.
During the 1990s, Dodi Fayed was romantically linked with Diana, Princess of Wales. On August 31, 1997, the couple died in a car accident in a Paris tunnel while being chased by paparazzi.
