Director. Born March 28, 1969 in Miami Beach, Florida. At age 16, Ratner left home to study film at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. While there, his work caught the attention of director Steven Spielberg, who helped him fund his senior project, a documentary about a child star.

After graduation, Ratner directed music videos and then films, most notably the Jackie Chan comedy vehicles Rush Hour and Rush Hour 2. Other projects include 2000’s romantic comedy The Family Man, 2002’s The Silence of the Lambs prequel, Red Dragon, and 2004’s action-packed After the Sunset.

Ratner dated actress Rebecca Gayheart from 1989 to 2001. He is currently dating tennis star Serena Williams.
