A Cause for Paws (NYC)

100% volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of New York City's homeless animals, A Cause for Paws has no shelter of its own. They foster and board all animals until loving homes can be found. Their goal is to educate the public about the benefits of spaying and neutering, create awareness about the consequences of breeding and buying and continue to save the lives of animals.

 

Animal Care & Control of NYC

Each year AC&C receives thousands of homeless dogs and cats and provides a variety of services to the community. Mission Statement: To Promote and Protect the Health, Safety and Welfare of Pets and People in New York City.

 

ASPCA

The American Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was founded in New York City in 1866 to prevent cruelty to animals in the United States. The ASPCA has been headquartered in New York City since its founding and maintains a strong local presence, but with the gradual addition of programs and staff that extend its anti-cruelty mission across the country, the ASPCA is now recognized as a national animal welfare organization.

 

The DJ&T Foundation

Bob Barker, well-known television personality, established the DJ&T Foundation in 1995. The Foundation's goal is to fund low cost spay/neuter clinics and voucher programs as a way to help relieve animal over population.

 

Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation

Founded by actress Linda Blair, this organization rescues abandoned animals. They provide medical attention, rehabilitation and ensures that these animals are given a second chance. They also educate and bring awareness to overpopulation and dog fighting.

 

PETA

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, with more than 1.6 million members and supporters, is the largest animal rights organization in the world.

 

The Roar Foundation - Shambala Preserve

Shambala is the only wild animal preserve of its kind in the United States. Since 1972, this eighty acre wildlife habitat has provided a haven for endangered exotic big cats. The Preserve is open to the public. Actress and conservationist, Tippi Hedren, serving as President of the Roar Foundation, guides the organization's efforts to increase the public's knowledge about wildlife in our world.

 

Society for Animal Protective Legislation

The Society for Animal Protective Legislation was the first non-profit organization formed in the United States specifically dedicated to the passage and promotion of federal, international and local legislation to ensure and protect animal welfare.

Chimp Haven

Chimp Haven is an independent, nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide lifetime care for chimpanzees no longer used for medical research, as pets or entertainers. The organization was founded in 1995 by professionals from the primatological, pharmaceutical, animal protection, zoo and business communities. It also provides education programs to students of all ages.

 

Ocean Alliance

The Ocean Alliance is dedicated to the conservation of whales and their ocean environment through research and education.

 

The Wild Horse Sanctuary

Mission Statement: To protect and preserve America's wild horses as a "living national treasure" in a publicly accessible and ecologically balanced environment with other wildlife for future generations.

 

World Wildlife Federation

For more than 45 years, WWF has been protecting the future of nature. The largest multinational conservation organization in the world, WWF works in 100 countries and is supported by 1.2 million members in the United States and close to 5 million globally. It is dedicated to the teaching of moral and ethical values and to protecting Earth and all its creatures.
